A windrose is a meteorological diagram depicting the
distribution of wind direction and speed at a location over a period of time. These windroses are presented in a
circular format and show the frequency of winds blowing from particular
directions. The lengths of each of
the spokes in the windrose are related to these frequencies. In the windrose each circle represents
a different frequency, emanating from zero at the center to increasing
frequencies at the outer circles. Windroses
are can quickly indicate the dominant wind directions and the direction of
strongest wind speeds. The windrose seen above is for the city of Okeechobee, a
city in Florida located 352 miles from Tallahassee, near Port St. Lucie.
